An aircraft carrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday due to a fissure was discovered in the plane's windshield, as stated by an announcement which confirmed that all passengers were secure.
"The jet touched down following standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, such as Defense Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," a spokesperson said in a public statement.
Hegseth was returning from a quick journey to Brussels at the time.
This occurrence does not mark the initial instance that a US military aircraft ferrying a high-ranking official has suffered technical problems.
Earlier this year, a American military jet transporting Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Munich was forced to turn back to Washington after experiencing a mechanical fault.
