Over 100 hundred million individuals, featuring at minimum 15 million children, presently employ e-cigarettes, propelling a recent wave of nicotine addiction, per latest international medical reports.

Minors are, on average, nine times more inclined than grown-ups to engage in vaping, based on existing global data.

Electronic cigarettes are propelling a "fresh wave" of nicotine habit, commented a leading health representative. "They are advertised as risk reduction but, truthfully, are addicting children on nicotine earlier and threaten weakening years of progress."

Teens Being 'Aimed At'

"Millions of people are ceasing, or refraining from tobacco use thanks to tobacco restriction measures by states across the globe," the representative said.

"As an answer to this substantial advancement, the tobacco industry is pushing back with recent nicotine items, actively focusing on youth. Authorities must act faster and more vigorously in applying established tobacco-control regulations," the official continued.

The vaping statistics are an estimate since some countries - 109 in total, and several in African and Southeast Asia - do not gather data.

According to the study, as of February this year, at minimum 86 million e-cigarette consumers were grown-ups, mainly in wealthy nations.

And at minimum 15 million teenagers aged 13 and 15 currently engage in vaping, according to research from 123 nations.

Although many nations have tried to establish e-cigarette regulations to tackle youth vaping in recent years, by the close of 2024, 62 countries still had no regulation in effect, and 74 states had no minimum age at which e-cigarettes can be purchased, says the health body.

At the same time, tobacco usage has been dropping - from an approximated 1.38 billion individuals in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.

Prevalence of tobacco consumption among females fell the largest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.

Among men, the drop was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.

But one in five of adults globally still employs tobacco.

Cigarette consumption is connected to numerous diseases, such as cancer.

Professionals claim vaping is considerably less damaging than cigarettes, and can help you cease smoking. It is discouraged for individuals who avoid tobacco.

Electronic cigarettes do not burn tobacco and do not create black substance or toxic gas, a couple of the most dangerous components in tobacco fumes. They have nicotine, which can be dependency-creating.
