Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend following the team's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the team - are among the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton manager - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
