Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
