‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.

"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."

The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".

"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.

He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator

In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.

In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
