Trump Organization Attempted to Hire Nearly 200 Workers on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business increased its recruitment of overseas employees on short-term work permits this period, while his administration was placing obstacles for other businesses attempting to do the identical, an analysis published Thursday stated.

Based on data from the federal labor department, the business sought to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his winery in Virginia.

The number of requests for temporary work visas covering workers including waitstaff, office assistants, cleaning staff, culinary employees and farm workers was the highest ever submitted by the company, and up from 121 in 2021, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that the former president had sought to hire over a hundred overseas workers for temporary positions at his Florida resort, according to available data.

The disclosure comes amid a tightening on legal immigration by his government that has included the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the Trump Organization sought to hire over 560 foreign laborers over the five years Trump has been in the presidency, from his first term and during 2025.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by certain in the GOP this week for comments justifying the need for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to occupy particular roles.

“You cannot just say a nation is coming in, going to invest $10bn to construct a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he told a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers lower the wages of American employees.

The White House refused a request for comment, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
